Claudia Chudacoff (violin), Kathryn Brake (piano)
Chudacoff recently completed her third one-year full-time contract as a member of the violin section of the National Symphony Orchestra. Concertmaster of both the National Gallery Orchestra and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Chudacoff retired in 2015 as concertmaster of the U.S. Marine Band's White House Chamber Orchestra, in which she served during four Presidential administrations. Characterized as a compelling and imaginative performer by The Washington Post, pianist Kathryn Brake has performed solo recitals in the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Switzerland and Spain and as soloist with the Baltimore Symphony and the National Symphony. Program includes Romance, Op. 11 by Antonín Dvořák; Mazurka, Op. 81, No. 1 by Jean Sibelius; La Fontaine d’Arethuse by Karol Szymanowski; and Sonata in A Major, Op. 13 by Gabriel Fauré. The Georgetown University Music Program’s Friday Music Series features acclaimed artists in free concerts on Friday afternoons now at 12:30 p.m. in McNeir Hall, and integrated into a new undergraduate course (MUSC 200) titled Live Music in Context.
