Generations: A Series of One Acts
Join The Colonial Players for a special presentation of three original one acts, written by local playwrights and featuring six local actors. Each one act explores both the barriers and the bonds between generations.
Monuments, written by Stephen Evans, directed by Lois Evans and starring Jeffrey Miller and Katie Wheeler Stephan, presents an aging Ralph Waldo Emerson struggling with memory yet immersed in memories while journeying in the care of his daughter on the Nile river in 1873.
Last Laugh, written by Morey Norkin, directed by Rick Wade and starring Robin Schwartz and Jerry Vess, is the story of two comics: Jackie, nearing the end of his career without the success he’d hoped for, and Jennifer, hoping she’s on the verge of her big break. The two discover a connection beyond comedy.
Late Nights in Cars, written by Michael Gilles, directed by Frank Moorman and starring Erica Miller and Jim Reiter, shows the life-long relationship between daughter Emily and her father, as they negotiate moments of birth, love, life, and death, over the course of 30 years. Their story explores the power of family as the strongest bond of all.
Performances will be held Friday, August 2 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3 at 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is a pay-what-you-can donation at the door (cash or check only, please), with open seating.
