If you know Andy Griffith only from TV shows like The Andy Griffith Show and Matlock, you're going to be stunned by his film debut in A Face in the Crowd. Patricia Neal plays a radio producer who discovers a talented singer named Lonesome Rhodes (Griffith) in an Arkansas drunk tank. Rhodes becomes such a popular television personality that he begins to influence not only the fans of his show, but also the way Americans think and vote. Was A Face in the Crowd a warning for our times or just great entertainment (or both)? We'll have plenty to discuss after this one, so plan on sticking around afterward. (And don't forget: we have free popcorn!)
