Where did women work during colonial times? The answer is everywhere! While women’s work in the domestic sphere was critical, women were active contributors to the Maryland economy in other ways, too. They owned businesses, ran taverns, worked as midwives and made medicines, and much more.
Here is your chance to explore what work was really like for women in the 18th century. You may meet tradeswomen like blacksmiths, lacemakers, herbalists, spinners, and printers. Enjoy a variety of demonstrations by living historians and take home a craft of your own!
