Enjoy the fleet, the flights and the festivals when Maryland Fleet Week & Flyover Baltimore 2022 returns IN-PERSON and better than ever September 7-13, 2022 to the Inner Harbor, North Locust Point, Fort McHenry, Fells Point and Martin State Airport. This biennial event celebrates the rich maritime traditions of the Chesapeake Bay and the contributions of Marylanders to the defense of the nation. It is presented by Historic Ships in Baltimore, a program of Living Classrooms Foundation; in partnership with United States Navy; the Maryland Department of Commerce; Sail Baltimore and the City of Baltimore, among others. Residents and tourists alike will delight in the Fleet, the Flyovers and the Festivals as they have grown accustom to from previous Fleet Week events. New this year, visitors will thrill in hearing (and feeling) the roar of mighty jets as they soar overhead during a series of flyovers around the Inner Harbor. As always, U.S. and foreign Navy vessels will be ready for boarding visitors at the Inner Harbor, Fells Point and North Locust Point.
The Fleet Week Festival, produced by Sail Baltimore, returns and will stretch from the Maryland Science Center around the promenade to the National Aquarium, filling the Inner Harbor with exhibitors and vendors from maritime, military, cultural, and historical organizations in addition to food and drink, musical acts, a kid’s zone and other entertainment. This free and family-friendly festival will also have special events to include a Crab Soup Cook-off, a Kids on the Bay Parade and Sunday Funday promotions. In addition to the Fleet Week Festival, Martin State Airport will host an Open House in Baltimore County for event goers to take in many of the aviation assets participating in Flyover Baltimore.
And while this event will take place in-person, there will also be some exciting virtual elements as part of the weekend’s experiences. The Virtual Experience 2.0 will include access to in-depth ship tours (including areas not accessible in public visitation), educational demonstrations and activities as well as behind-the-scenes interviews and great musical performances by Navy bands.
