KEEP Healthy is the Foundation's community-based initiative to educate about the kidneys, risk factors for kidney disease, and steps to take to keep kidneys healthy and reduce risk.
Appointments are not required and any adult can participate. Lasting about 20 minutes, the check-up includes the following: a risk survey, body mass index, height and weight measurements, blood pressure check, blood draw to check your kidney function, free educational materials and an opportunity to speak with a health care professional and dietician.
Kidney disease is the 9th leading cause of death in the United States, killing more people every year than breast or prostate cancer.
Fifteen percent of U.S. adults—37 million people—are estimated to have Chronic Kidney Disease. Most (9 in 10) adults with CKD do not know they have it. In fact, 300 people screened locally by NKF in the first six months of FY’20 demonstrated significant results.
The National Kidney Foundation is the largest, most comprehensive and longstanding organization dedicated to the awareness, prevention and treatment of kidney disease.
