Photography Workshop-The Art of Seeing
Time: 10:00am - 12:00pm
Date: Jul 21, 2019 (1 day)
Location: ArtFarm Annapolis Studio
Description: The Art of Seeing from the Photographer-Artist series – by Sheila White Guevin
Impactful memorable photographs require more than just technical mastery of your camera. Develop your eye for composition, utilizing your lenses, and techniques that made Brenizer, Hilliard and even our local DC artist Herd, stand out from the crowd.
See how photographs differ when we chose a prime lens or a telephoto lens . Learn how stabilizers work and why “long” lenses such as the 100-400mm have more than one stabilizer button. Understand why your lens can go “hunting” and how to stop this from happening. Learn simple techniques to bring more versatility to which ever lens you have on your camera and answer the question “Why is the 50 so nifty?” Learn to visualize your final photo and then select the right lens for the project.
This workshop is designed to develop your understanding of composition and let you see what it takes to make your photographs “pop”. We will study over 20 compositional elements and styles so you can move beyond the basics of leading lines and rule of thirds.
Bonus: Explore how to make something out of nothing: develop your photographic eye to see beyond the everyday and make things appear extraordinary.
Schedule:
10am – Noon: On location at the Art Farm Studios
Lunch break: My plan is to eat at a nearby location. You are welcome to join me at lunch to chat or you can take this time for yourself, to recharge.
1pm – 2:30: Photo walk with instructor to explore a nearby location and put your new knowledge into practice.
Note: Students should have a general working knowledge of their camera. It is best if students can shoot in manual, but at minimum — must know how to change basic ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed in Aperture Mode or Manual Mode. Students should have access to their camera instruction manuals at all times.
