Feast on the cuisine and wine of Sicily during this 4-course dinner led by an Italian wine expert.
Join us for the second dinner in our Italian food & wine dinner series. This series focuses on the different cuisines and wines of Italy. Each of the upcoming dinners will focus on a specific region of Italy, showcasing that region's local dishes. In addition, the wines of that region will be expertly paired to each dish so that you can experience the wine and food as it was meant to be experienced! You will feel like you are eating and drinking in a small Italian village nestled amongst the hills and vineyards!!! Guiding you through the food and wine each night will be Tony Polzer, Italian Wine Ambassador (IWA). He will be on hand to discuss the different wines, as well as touch upon the local dishes and the culture of the region. So not only will you have an amazing wine-paired dinner, but you will also come away from the evening with some newfound knowledge of that region's food and wine scene!
For our second night in this series, we are going to be focusing on Italy's largest and most famous Island: Sicily! For most non-Italians, the first thing that comes to mind when they think of Sicily, is probably Don Corleone. And while Sicily does have a notorius history with organized crime, there is SO much more to this region. It's cultural and historical significance, its beauty, the unspoiled beaches, plains, hills & mountains, it's active volcanoes, and to save the best for last: its amazing food and wine! Due to it's location in the middle of the mediteanean, it's cuisine has been influenced by the likes of the Spanish, the French, the Greeks and even the Arabs. In regards to wine, prior to the Romans growing vines on the island, both the Greeks and the Phoenecians did the same thing. They both, literally, put Sicily on the map as a major wine producing location! To this day, Sicily is home to some of the best wines of the country.
