Special Olympics Virtual Block Party
This year would have marked the 50th annual Special Olympics Maryland Summer Games at Towson University. More than 1,500 athletes from across the state would have taken to the field to compete in five Olympic-style events: track & field, bocce, cheerleading, softball, and swimming.OurSummer Games is the largest state-level competition for Special Olympics Maryland.
Instead,Special OlympicsMaryland will host a Virtual Block Party on June 6th, 2020,consisting of a Law Enforcement Torch RunFlame of Hope presentation, at-home group fitness workouts, cooking segments with Jimmy’s Seafood and Michelle Kwan, virtual opening ceremonies, live trivia, and a 3-hour dance party with DJ Kopec and SOMD athlete DJ Kris Stone.
This virtual event will take place via Zoom and streamed to YouTube and Facebook Live. This day full of activities will give Special Olympics Maryland athletes the opportunity to remain active and see their friends virtually.
