St. Mary's County Tour
Explore the birthplace of Maryland during the 2025 Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage Tour of St. Mary’s County. This self-guided tour offers a rare opportunity to step inside private homes, historic churches, gardens, and museums across the region.
Situated between the Patuxent and Potomac Rivers and the Chesapeake Bay, St. Mary’s County is home to some of the state’s oldest settlements. Highlights of the tour include exclusive access to Historic St. Mary’s City, wine tastings from Zella Wine, bourbon samples from Tobacco Barn Distillery, and a live performance by the St. Peter Claver Men’s Choir.
Advance tickets are $41.75 and $45 on the day of the tour. Each ticket includes the 2025 Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage Tour Guide, filled with historical information and details about each stop along the route.
Proceeds from the St. Mary’s County tour will support The Society for the Preservation of St. Ignatius Church. Funds will assist with painting, roofing, and HVAC upgrades to help preserve one of Maryland’s most treasured religious sites.

The Maryland House & Garden Pilgrimage is a nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to promote the preservation of historically and culturally significant sites across the state. Each year, the tour helps communities raise critical funds for restoration efforts. In 2024, over $100,000 was returned to participating counties to support historic preservation.
