Celebrate Maryland Emancipation Day with a kickoff reparative genealogy program at Riversdale House Museum. When Emancipation came to Maryland in 1864, there was a multigenerational family effort to reconnect with separated loved ones. Participate in a day of presentations, workshops, and dialogue on finding slavery-era family record, connect with research professionals, descendants of both slaveholders and enslaved families, and learn about documents that ultimately connect the present to the past during this first in a series of reparative genealogy programs.
