Meet the free and enslaved people of the South River and discover the challenges facing them with the impending collapse of slavery. Journey back to the waning years of the Civil War, and meet the people of color who lived and worked in the Almshouse as portrayed by the Sons and Daughters of Ham, an African American re-enacting group. The looming shadow of slavery will not disappear, even with impending Union victory. Share in their struggles, and join them in facing the challenges that lay ahead. Victorian Photography Studio will be taking wet plate photography and sharing the techniques of 1860’s photographic technology.
