The Naval Academy Band’s Superintendent’s Combo will present an afternoon of jazz in the Bowen Theatre on Sunday, August 4th!
Under the direction of Chief Musician Colin Renick on saxophones and clarinet, the Superintendent’s Combo will perform a stroll through jazz history, from Dixieland to bebop, and from swing to fusion and funk. The program will intertwine the history of America's music – jazz –with the history of the U.S. Navy in the 20th century, and will include compositions by jazz legends Louie Armstrong, Duke Ellington, and Thelonious Monk.
The Naval Academy Band has been providing music for the Brigade of Midshipmen and the surrounding community since 1852.
