Whether you’re auditioning for the first time or want to brush-up on your auditioning skills…this is a great workshop to take! Over the course of three weeks students will work closely with our teaching artists on acting, singing, and a mock audition. Each week students will receive instruction & practice with each teaching artist to hone their skills in a group setting (allowing them to witness the other performances & coaching sessions of other students to be able to learn from them as well). Then students will be put through a mock audition where they'll receive feedback to prepare the students for the real audition.
Acting (Saturday, May 16): The teaching artist will guide students on warm-ups, slating, and more. They will receive monologues, in advance, to choose from & have prepared to present during class. The instructor will provide feedback and coaching in order to better the execution of the monologue. Students will be able to keep the monologues for future use.
Singing (Saturday, May 23): For this portion students will need to prepare 32-bars of a vocal selection & are required to have a digital recording of accompaniment music. A digital copy of the sheet music is helpful for the teaching artist. Students will work on warm-ups, performance of the vocal selections, slating, and more. The instructor will provide feedback and coaching on performances in order to better the execution of the vocal selection.
Mock Audition (Saturday, May 30): Students will be guided through warm-ups with the teaching artists and will then go through a mock audition. This will give them the experience of a real (virtual) audition after which they will receive feedback & coaching from both of the teaching artists. Other students are expected to observe and take notes from the performances & feedback of the other students.
