The World Music Collective will be performing a free concert at St. Thomas’ Parish on September 16 at 7pm.
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the show will feature Argentine-American guitarist, composer, and arranger Cristian Perez. Perez has performed his work in Bulgaria, Canada, South Korea, Bolivia, China, and the Dominican Republic.
The ensemble will also present performances on September 15 at 5pm and September 17 at 10:30am. All three of these shows are a part of the group’s residency at St. Thomas’ Parish, funded in part by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
The other group members include Indian classical flutist Deepak Ram, who has performed for Nelson Mandela; drummer Advait Shah, who has performed with Nisar Bazmi, Ustad Nafiz Ali Khan, Arun Ramamurthy, and Pandit Subroto Roy Choudury; bassist Karine Chapdelaine, who has led international performances around the world; and saxophonist Noah Getz, a Grammy-nominated artist hailed by the Washington City Paper as a “highly skillful and an even more highly adventurous player.”
