THE ENGAGEMENT After meeting through a mutual friend in downtown Annapolis, it didn’t take long before Jamie Strickler, a registered nurse at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and Corey Bowman, president and owner of Support Engineering, were in a serious relationship. On one beautiful fall day, Corey took Jamie on a train ride to New York City. They settled into a hotel room, and then took a horse drawn carriage ride through Central Park. During the carriage ride, Corey proposed to Jamie. “He was so nervous he just handed me the ring box and forgot to put the ring on my finger,” says Jamie.

THE CELEBRATION The couple remembers a beautiful ceremony with perfect weather. Just as Jamie and Corey were saying their vows, a flock of bird flew overhead. The reception was held in the Hyatt’s large ballroom, with a deep purple, white, and silver color theme. There was a relaxing atmosphere, and by the end of the night almost everybody was out on the dance floor. The couple’s first dance song was “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes, and the father-daughter dance was to “My Girl.”

THE FOOD “The food was outstanding,” Jamie says. The couple served prime rib and crab cakes as entrées at the reception. “Everyone found it hilarious that the crab cakes were mistakenly spelled ‘crap cakes’ on the menu,” says Jamie. Her favorite appetizer that was served was the portabella mushroom ravioli. The wedding cake featured top and bottom layers of butter cream frosting, with a middle layer of strawberry shortcake.
THE HONEYMOON Jamie and Corey took a month off after their wedding before the honeymoon. They went to Hawaii, to visit the islands Kauai and Maui. During their honeymoon, the newlyweds discovered that they were going to have a baby. “It made the trip even more magical,” Jamie says.
MARRIED LIFE The Bowmans are happily enjoying their new life together after the wedding. They recently purchased their first home, which they love. “We just had our first baby, a beautiful boy named Cameron,” says Jamie. “Our married life is great and full of wonderful new surprises.”
