My absolute favorite thing to order for eakfast is traditional buttermilk waffles. They are fluffy, sweet and just a bit crunchy on the outsides. But making them at home is a snap. It's also less embarrassing to eat three in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Ingredients
1 3/4 cups flour
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 3/4 cup buttermilk, shaken
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
Tools needed: a waffle press
Directions
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, butter, eggs and vanilla. Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and stir to combine but do not overmix. Place approximately 1/3 cup in the well of each waffle section on your waffle press. Close and cook for 5 minutes until just crisp. Set on a place and place in a 200-degree oven to keep warm while remaining waffles cook. Serve with syrup or other toppings.
