Classic ownies are the trifecta of desserts. 1. They taste delicious. 2. They are super easy to make, and fast. 3. They are a huge crowd-pleaser. Put these on a plate and watch as they disappear before your eyes.
Ingredients
3/4 cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cup flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup boiling water
1 cup candy-coated chocolates
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray a glass baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside. Mix cocoa and baking soda in a bowl. Add in 1/3 cup of vegetable oil. Add boiling water. Stir mixture until it thickens, about a minute. Stir in eggs, sugar and remaining oil. Mix until smooth. Add flour, vanilla and salt and blend well. Add in 1/2 cup candies and stir well to incorporate. Using a spatula, pour the mixture into the pan and spread it until it is even. Sprinkle the remaining candies on top and gently press them down. Bale for 35 to 40 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing.
