Fifth Annual Oyster Roast and Sock Burning
Each Spring Equinox at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, plumes of smoke signal an Eastport tradition - The Sock Burning Party! As a cele ation of spring, the socks are burned in a bonfire. The tradition started with sailors from historic times. Eastport has adopted this tradition and turned it into a lively festival of sorts. Entertainment includes music and sea chanteys along with the required beer toasts and best oyster shucking contest in these parts. Join the tradition on March 21st at the Annapolis Maritime Museum, from noon– 5 p.m., for a wonderful beginning to a new season! Tickets are $25 for general admission, and $55 to participate in People’s Choice, where ticketholders can taste oysters from eight local restaurants and vote on their favorite. People’s Choice ticketholders can also refer to their tickets for additional activities during the day. For more information call 410-295-0104 or visit amaritime.org.
