How to Store Asparagus
Sure, you may know how to determine where to cut the ends off a bundle of asparagus by snapping one spear by hand, and cutting the rest of the spears accordingly. But did you know that storing your asparagus upright and in an inch of water helps keep them fresher longer? Once they’re in the container with water cover them loosely with plastic wrap or a plastic bag. Another easy storing method is covering the ends with a damp paper towel and placing the bundle in a bag. Since I’m not always able to cook my asparagus the day of, or even the day after the grocery store, I find this method very handy, like for this week’s Pan Seared Scallops and Baked Parmesan Asparagus dish.
