Yes, Metropolitan is back. The restaurant was sold in 2007, turned into Jerry's Seafood at the Metropolitan, and then revamped into The Latin Quarter, a concept that owner Gavin Buckley says "didn't quite click." They are now expanding the space into the building next door and shifting some things around to create Metropolitan A.M. P.M., a restaurant that will serve eakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. It's a modern American bistro, Buckley says, that really focuses on farm-fresh ingredients. "Because we're expanding, I didn't want to waste the expansion on the concept that wasn't quite what we wanted it to be," Buckley says.
Breakfast will be served until 2 p.m., serving locally roasted coffee, freshly squeezed juices, locally baked ead, and great scrambles. At lunch, indulge in a burger off the restaurant's burger list made with beef from Virginia, ranging from a $6 classic Metropolitan burger to a $14 truffle and foie gras burger. For dinner, the menu will depend on what's in season and available at local farmers markets, but you can expect seafood, pastas, and such, topping out at around $25.
The downstairs bar is being moved into the expanded space and will really focuses on good liquor. "Everyone is doing wine bars," Buckley says. "So we're going to do a great liquor bar. It's a great time to be exploring that stuff." On the second floor, the restaurant will host live bands and DJs, and the rooftop will reopen.
