Grapefruit Brulee
Rhea’s Rundown
brThis grapefruit brulee is a quick and easy breakfast or snack, and a tasty one at that! I love having fresh fruit handy in the kitchen, especially fruits that can keep for a while. I happened to have a white grapefruit sitting in my fruit bowl from a week or so ago, and this was the perfect way to use it. Ghee is clarified butter, as seen in The Detox Week column (for the kitchari dish ), which can be found at Whole Foods in their International section. If you don’t already have ghee you can manage just fine without it. It’s important to thoroughly cut each grapefruit segment from the membrane and skin beforehand, otherwise spooning out the fruit will be a pain.
Ingredients
Directions
1. Turn broiler on high.
2. Cut the bottom off grapefruit half. Carefully cut grapefruit segments in between membranes, as well as a circle cut to separate segments from the skin.
3. Evenly spread ghee on the open face of the grapefruit half. Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar to coat.
4. Broil grapefruit for three to four minutes, or until sugar coating browns.br
