Interventional cardiologist, Dr. Marco A. Mejia, a native Texan, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Needless to say, he is a die-hard UT Longhorn football fan. After graduating from the University Of Utah School Of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Dr. Mejia completed his Internal Medicine Internship, Residency and Cardiology Fellowships at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, ultimately specializing in Interventional Cardiology. Upon finishing his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship, he began practicing in Annapolis, which allowed him to maintain his close relationship with Johns Hopkins. He was instrumental in establishing the C-PORT program at Anne Arundel Medical Center, which provides emergency angioplasty 24/7 for patients suffering from acute heart attacks. He has continued his affiliation with the program, which now includes selective non-emergent angioplasty cases. “I feel truly privileged to be able to provide this type of advanced cardiac care to the population of Annapolis and its surrounding areas”, states Dr. Mejia.
In 2003, Dr. Mejia opened his solo practice which has expanded to include three additional cardiologists, Dr. Ingo Ender, Dr. Boaz Rosen, and Dr. Sadia Shafi. “I am pleased to be working with these cardiologists,” says Dr. Mejia. “They each ing their own expertise to the practice and have a wonderful rapport with our patients.”
For Dr. Mejia, the most fulfilling aspect of having a practice in Annapolis, is the ability to serve the community in which he considers home. Dr. Mejia and his family reside in the community of Arundel on the Bay. His daughter, Sidney, is currently obtaining her Master’s in Public Health at Tulane.
His son, Sam, is currently a junior at UNCW in North Carolina.
“I am very fortunate to have a successful practice in Annapolis. I have an office staff who are all supportive and understand the importance of providing quality patient care. I thank all my patients for the trust they place in me as their physician. I’d like to also thank all the referring physicians for their support in allowing me to provide personalized cardiac care to this community.”
