Whenever I go out, I feel like I always see someone pulling off the bold lip color or the person with the perfect lashes. No matter how hard I try to duplicate that makeup on myself, I look crazy. I am here to spill the secrets to pull off whatever makeup type you would like.
How To Select Makeup Brushes
There are so many different options when it comes to selecting a brush. Hopefully, the difference is obvious between brushes used for foundation and powder versus the brushes we use to apply eye makeup, but beyond that is unknown for most people. Here are a few of those foreign brushes and how you can use them too.
The Fan Brush: A fan brush looks exactly how it sounds. This is a thin, fan like brush that is perfect to apply highlighter. It picks up just the perfect amount to give your cheek bones the glow you are looking for. This is also a perfect brush to wipe away some mistakes. If you apply too much eye shadow, use the fan brush to brush away the extra flecks of makeup.
Beauty Blender: I am sure you have seen these and have been just as confused by them as I have. Beauty Blenders look like little foam cones but what are they really for? This is arguably one of the most versatile brush in your makeup kit. It can be used to apply wet foundation, dry foundation, blush, highlighter, and concealer. You can even use it to easily and evenly apply sunscreen or topical creams.
Brow Brush: Tame and style your brows with the brow brush. This is normally a double-sided brush, one side being a comb and the other being the actual brush. Put a little gel brow product to the brush side to get them styled in the exact shape you want before you flip around the brush to add color and define the ends.
How to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger
Everyone craves big, captivating eyes and there are many ways to get them, even without using makeup as an aid. First, try to de-puff the bags under your eyes. The easiest way to do this is to wash your face with cold water, even rubbing ice cubes on your bags. Next, right before you apply your mascara, make sure to curl your eyelashes. Curling your lashes instantly lifts the lashes and widens your eyes in seconds. Another important tip is to brighten your waterline. Many people use black eyeliner on their lower waterline, but a neutral, cream shade is what is going to make your eyes pop. The flesh tone will conceal any redness on your waterline and make your eyes appear bigger. Lastly, finish your look with a lengthening mascara.
How to Conceal Blemishes
No matter what your age is, there is a good chance you have some blemishes on your face that you want to cover up. Sun spots, acne, no matter what it is, we normally feel more beautiful when it is covered, but we don’t want our makeup to looked caked on either.
Pimples: It is really important that you don’t pick at your pimple! Apply a concealer that matches your skin onto the trouble spot and pat it with clean fingers to blend it in a bit. Often times, because pimples are normally raised, it is difficult to get the product to stay. To help, apply a lose powder first and then the concealer on top. This will help the product stay in place.
Dark Spots: Try adding a brightening oil to your routine in order to fade dark spots. Actually covering dark spots has proved to be a bit difficult. Sometimes, a way to help hide them are to mix a bit of orange lipstick or blush to your concealer. It can also help to try a color correcting pen in the trouble areas.
Redness: This is a great time to use the color correcting primer. Whether you have rosacea or acne marks, this primer goes on green to counteract the redness in your face. Don’t worry, once your rub it in it won’t be green anymore
How to Pull Off Bold Lipstick
Pulling off a bold lip can be difficult, but there are definitely tricks to make it easier. First, be sure that your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. Nothing will make the bold color look worse than if it is on chapped lips. To make your lips look bigger, use lip liner to slightly overdraw the natural lip shape. Fill in the lines and then use a lighter, champagne colored eye shadow on the center of your lips to create dimension. Lip liner is very important because it prevents the lipstick from bleeding into fine lines and acts as a guide for you to trace your lips. Another trick is using a darker color, will help your teeth look whiter. When you use a bold lip, make sure the rest of your makeup is subtle and natural. This will help the lip really pop and not drown you out.
