The American Urological Association issued a statement last week that has put a lot of minds at ease. br
“Contrary to the widely publicized study suggesting a link between vasectomy and prostate cancer, the American Urology Association said “that vasectomy is not a risk factor for prostate cancer or for high grade prostate cancer. There is no need for physicians to routinely discuss prostate cancer in their preoperative counseling of vasectomy patients.”
The AUA announcement was made on World Vasectomy Day (November 7, 2014). “World Vasectomy Day is not just about how many vasectomies are completed, but how many conversations are launched,” says Johnathan Stack, who created World Vasectomy Day after he struggled to understand his own resistance to having a vasectomy. “Engaging men in family planning is the right thing to do for yourself, for your family and for our future,” he says.
