Tousled Tresses
Using two clips, section the hair into three parts: create a horseshoe shape from temple to temple for the first section of hair, then create a middle section from ear to ear, and lastly, a lower section along the neck. Pin up the first and second sections to begin working on the lower third of the hair. Starting at the bottom section, use a 1 to 2-inch curling wand—for shorter hair or hair with multiple layers, stick to a smaller barrel size—and wrap pieces of hair, no more than an inch in width, around the wand. Be sure to curl away from the face, as this helps to create a more natural “S” shape, and hold for 5 to 7 seconds. Continue until all hair is curled. Drop the second section and continue curling hair away from face. Release the top section, letting hair fall to create a natural part, and finish curling. Once hair has cooled, lightly ush through once with a paddle ush to create loose, tousled locks, reminiscent of those gorgeous 1940s finger waves.

Low Pony with a Twist
Divide hair from ear to ear into three sections. Separate the center section, about four inches wide, with a horizontal part to create two additional sections—one on top of head and one below. Place lower section in a ponytail, keeping close to the nape of the neck. Take top section of hair and create a mini bouffant, backcombing at roots to add lift. Pull hair towards ponytail, while smoothing down top of hair. Add this section to the low ponytail, pinning to secure in place. Pull both side sections back towards ponytail, cross one section over the other, and twist around the base to create a faux aid. Add pins to hold in place.

Deep Side Part
Create a deep side part with a fine-tooth comb, starting the part at the highest point of the eye ow. For added drama, place hair in a bun. Part hair into three sections from ear to ear. Pull middle section into a low pony and tie with an elastic. Separate the ponytail into two pieces and twist and pin to create a bun. Pull the side sections back and wrap around the bun, securing with bobby pins—this adds more mass to the bun and allows for some creativity. Pull sections tight for a sleek ballerina bun or pin loosely for a messy knot.
