It's only December, and you're already bored of the cozy sweaters you were so excited to pull out of storage two months ago. However, by updating how you're styling those sweaters, it can feel like you have a and-new piece in your wardrobe.
A Classic Look
Here in Annapolis, a classic, tailored-look ensemble never goes out of style. In the winter months, that means donning a traditional crew or V-neck sweater in a way that makes you look put together. Other options include:
Layer a solid-hued sweater over a plaid, collared button-down shirt and pair it with tweed pants, a top trend for fall/winter 2018.
Feeling a little adventurous? Don a patterned sweater, rather than a solid color, with the plaid shirt.
Trade in those tweed trousers for a tweed pencil skirt that's coupled with a fitted, neutral sweater for a look that's styled exactly right for the office.
Combine a pair of skinny cigarette pants with a fitted T-shirt and ankle booties, and then shrug on a cozy blanket scarf for a dose of casual warmth.
Rebel Against the Traditional
Have a little fun with your styling by taking a classic look and then adding a piece or two
that take it from traditional to slightly rebellious.
Pull on your favorite solid-hued sweater with black trousers or classic denim, and then layer on a black moto jacket and oversized sunglasses.
Go Big
Oversized sweaters are a key trend for this season, but you might be stumped on how to style one. Remember this: It's all about proportions.
Try a pair of colorful skinny jeans, a pair of ankle booties, and an oversized sweater with your favorite scarf. Add a pair of sunglasses, and you're ready to go.
The rules on when to wear white don't apply anymore. It's perfectly acceptable to pair a ight oversized sweater with white denim and neutral ballet flats or booties.
Instead of pants, tuck an oversized sweater into a pencil skirt layered over cozy tights. Then tuck in the front of the sweater to emphasize your waist.
