Traditional lifting and cardio through running isn’t the type of workout that gets everyone excited. It is harder to stick with a healthy routine when you dread getting the job done. A fun way to workout is through classes, but even when you realize that classes will make you thrive, you realize that there are way too many classes to choose from. There is nothing wrong with trying them all to find the perfect fit; sometimes you end up enjoying the class more than you expected when you get there. Many classes offer a free trial class so you can find your perfect fit before you commit. Also, make sure you don’t make a decision about a class just because you like or don’t like the teacher. You can always pick around the instructors!
If you really want to get your body moving, Zumba is the way to go. Zumba is a cardio class through Latin inspired dance. The whole class is moving to the upbeat music from Mambo to Salsa with exercises in between. Because it is a dance themed class, it is fun while you are participating but you will be sore the next day!
One of the newest, most up and coming workout classes is Solidcore. Solidcore uses slow movements to break down your slow twitch muscle fibers to fatigue your muscles. It is a challenging class on a Pilates machine in a low-lit room. Sometimes a low-lit room can help for first time workout class goers because it makes the class setting a bit less intimidating. This is a low impact and high intensity class.
Another great choice in workout classes is a Barre class. These classes combine ballet, Pilates, and yoga and also focus on a low impact and high intensity mindset. This is a great place for new athletes to gain strength, balance, and flexibility with the help of a ballet barre. Barre classes are also good for all ages because they are gentle on joints.
Spin classes have been very popular recently as well. Spinning builds strength and endurance with high intensity on stationary exercise bikes. There are many different lengths for spin classes, starters should start at the 30-minute classes and work their ways up. This workout will focus on your quads, hamstrings, hip flexors, and glutes, but will also work your core.
Find your power, endurance, and strength at an Orangetheory class. These one-hour workouts work your whole body. Your intensity is based on your heart rate, which is displayed on large screens through the studio. These workouts burn more calories post workout than most traditional exercise classes because they use heart rate-based interval training. Orangetheory is a great option if you are competitive and need that extra push since everyone can see your heart rate and how hard you are working.
