Dr. O’Connor is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in laparoscopic, endoscopic, and east surgery in Chestertown. He began his practice at Chester River Hospital in 1984. A graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, he completed his internship and residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Under his leadership, as Director, the Vascular Services Lab at Chester River Hospital has evolved into a fully accredited laboratory for non-invasive vascular services. A past president of the medical staff at Chester River Hospital Center, O’Connor has played an essential role in the day-to-day functions of the facility, where he has been on staff for the past 32 years.
O’Connor is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society.
The most gratifying aspect of his practice, he says, is the pride he feels at “developing and delivering quality, always evolving surgical care with the hometown flavor of Kent and Queen Anne counties.”
He believes strongly in giving back to the community, and volunteers as a Lieutenant Colonel with the Maryland Defense Force, 10th Medical Regiment, which provides medical support to the National Guard. O’Connor also volunteers his time with youth sports programs in Kent County.
A fitness buff who enjoys ballroom dancing, O’Connor has three children and two grandchildren.
