The flu is all over the place. Local hospitals have changed their visiting policies to help protect their patients. Students are missing school and thoughtful workers are staying home and not spreading the joy. br
But the physicians at a Maryland-based urgent care organization want to raise awareness about the difference between the flu and a “stomach bug” so people know when it's time to see the doctor and when they can take care of their symptoms at home.
One of the biggest myths about the flu is that it causes vomiting. The real flu is actually a highly contagious respiratory disease and vomiting is not on the list of flu symptoms.
Symptoms of the flu do include: Fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, cough, chills, runny nose, and fatigue.
The past 32 flu seasons have shown that Fe uary is the most active month for the flu, followed by December and January. Thanks to AFC/Doctors Express for the heads up.
