With four little girls under the age of seven at home, Matt Nadar of Annapolis says his window of opportunity to workout is limited, but he makes it work by jumpstarting his day with one.
Matt's Workout of Choice:
Boxing
Fitness Personality:
High-Intensity and Motivated
We hear you are a father of four girls. How do you find the time to workout and how often are you able to get workout sessions in?
I have one option for a workout, 5:45/6 a.m.-7, and I have to race home to help with the kiddos before work. I typically get in at least three to four workouts in a week, but I also stay active with my girls.
Do you think men are now under as much pressure as women to be in shape?
I don’t think it’s just about appearance. I know a lot of people who work out to stay sane. So are men under the same pressure as women? I don’t [think] as much.
What does each of your sessions consist of? How long is each session?
If I am working out in the morning before work, it is always roughly an hour. Each work out is different. Boxing is an hour-long circuit workout with many variations of exercises. If it is a home workout, especially with the nice weather we’ve had, I will run two to four miles, come home, and knock out push-ups, sit-ups, planks, squats, lunges, et cetera.
“Boxing is the toughest hour workout I have found... I also play hoops every Friday morning for an hour or so. If I don’t make it to boxing for whatever reason, I will go for a quick run and finish up with body weight exercises in my basement before my daughters wake up.”—Matt Nader

1. What part of your workout is the most challenging? Why?
Getting up in the morning. With four young daughters, rarely do I sleep through the night without getting woken up by one of them. So when I get 4 to 5 hours of sleep, that 5:15 bell is tough.
2. What is your impression of the term “Dad Bod?”
A father that has just let it go. Stopped working out, gained a lot of weight, and doesn’t care about his appearance anymore.
3. A diet splurge for me would be:
a milkshake
4. What tools do you use to motivate you when you just don't feel like working out?
I know that if I work out I will be better husband, father, and much better at work. My stress levels are manageable when I work out, if I skip a few days my lovely wife will kindly ask me to get a work out in.
