brbrThere’s a saying among anglers that idle the Severn River; catch a white perch and yellow, a pickerel, and a rockfish…all in a single trip…and you’ve completed the “Severn Slam.” Well, for the new owners of this nearly two-acre parcel overlooking this very river, it’s fair to say that they’ve caught a big one with big time amenities and features. True to prestigious waterfront form, this property is, indeed, a realty Severn Slam.
brbrLocated along a small pocket tributary of the Severn known as Cove of Cork and within the Lindamoor community, the home boasts history, ample shoreline, waterfront amenities (including a pool with views), seven-car garage, five fireplaces, and, altogether, unique architecture and design that blends elements of manor, parlor, fish camp, and Havana hospitality (yes, let’s make this a thing). Originally built in 1896, this manor is truly an experience. br
brbrInside, the centerpiece could be considered the wood-fashioned spiral staircase that leads from the great room with a floor-to-vaulted-ceiling stone fireplace to the second-level billiards room with wraparound balcony. It’s a gathering place top to bottom, ideal for entertaining. Off-shooting the first-level hub is a gourmet kitchen, breakfast bar, dining nook, formal dining room, welcoming room (with fireplace), living room (with fireplace), office, laundry room (with secondary food storage), and elegant powder room.
brUpstairs is equally impressive. Beyond the billiards and great room overlook is a resplendently crafted study room and the evening quarters, which include: a master bedroom with fireplace, his and her bathroom, and walk-in closet; and two guest bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom. A finished walk-in attic offers additional storage or, if the new owners desire, the opportunity to convert to additional guest or personal space.
brbrThe extras are many and mostly attributed to an eye for design. Crown molding, built-ins (bookcases, China cabinets), and hardwood flooring throughout almost seem an afterthought compared to the unique décor that the former owners developed in each room. Flora, fauna (taxidermy), and fans combine Chesapeake and Cuban influence in several rooms, while a safari theme dominates others. Victorian sensibility envelopes the living and dining rooms, while nautical/maritime themes make appearances here, there, and everywhere. br
brOutside the main house, guests could be invited to enjoy their stay within the well-appointed guest quarters above the seven-car garage, complete with full kitchen. The entire property engages visitors with pastoral views complemented by an old growth tree line, well-groomed shrubbery, manicured lawn scape, and potted embellishments. And when the water beckons all, be it to the hillside in-ground pool or private pier and boat dock (mean low water six feet), the fully-equipped cabana/pool house might make a good pit-stop along the way…or upon return from a day sail or reeling in a Severn Slam.
