Eastport Yacht Club Cancels Annual Light Parade
Due to COVID restrictions and an abundance of caution, we are sad to report that the Lights Parade for 2020 has been cancelled, this would have been the 37th Lights Parade but we look forward to continuing the tradition next year.
The Vineyards at Dodon Now Offer Shipping
The 2020 fermentations are nearly complete, with only a few barrels yet to finish. The red wines, the Chardonnay, and a bit of the Sauvignon Blanc are in barrel. Most of the Sauvignon Blanc and the Rosé are aging in tank. For the remainder of their élevage, we will stir the wines, taste them occasionally, “top-up” barrels that naturally evaporate a small amount of wine over time, and watch their progress. Mostly, we will let them be until it is time to blend. We are very pleased that Dodon wine can now be shipped to 37 states including DC, Virginia, Florida & New York. Please place all holiday orders by December 10 for ground shipping. Personalized virtual tastings via Zoom are still available for those who are interested. If you have an idea in mind, or a special shipping or gift request, please email Regina and she will assist.
Smithsonian Museums and National Zoo Close Again
Due to rising regional and national cases related to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, all Smithsonian museums, including the National Zoo, will temporarily close to the public starting Monday, Nov. 23. This will impact the other Smithsonian facilities in the Washington, D.C., region that had previously reopened to the public.Due to the changing nature of the situation, we are not announcing a reopening date at this time. The Institution’s top priority is to protect the health and safety of its visitors and staff. We will use this time to reassess, monitor, and explore additional risk-mitigation measures. We are closely monitoring guidance from local governments, public health officials, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
