Annapolis, MD - It isn't often that CRAB gets to report on something other than sailing, but a special thanks to The Brick Company Foundation, CRAB Board Member Shelly Ford, and City Pickleball Queen Sara Aiken, for organizing the first annual Summer Slam pickleball tournament. The highly successful inaugural tournament, held on July 8th at Truxton Park, raised funds for CRAB free sailing programs.
So many Pickleball enthusiasts came out to join in the fun that the event sold out for competitors. Nearly 160 players participated in 186 matches on a hot, steamy day, including some paying extra to beat the pros? Food and beverage trucks were doing great business, along with several pickleball vendors. When it was all over, the tournament raised $12,000 for CRAB. Many thanks to The Brick Foundation, Shelly, and Sara for all of their hard work and to everyone who played like a champion!
