Annapolis, MD - Legendary rocker 93.5 WRNR (WYRE-A / W228ER), which returned to the FM airwaves last July at the 93.5 FM frequency, then expanded via LMA of 93.5 FM Silver Spring, MD signal (WTOP-HD4 + W228DI) announces three exciting additions to the weekend on-air lineup.
Starting this Saturday, April 11th, two legendary Maryland musicians will take over the RNR airwaves. From 6 to 7pm, it’s Jimi Haha’s Mixtape, and from 7 to 8pm it’s Mark Bryan’s Alt Vault. Preceding these shows from 3 to 6pm, it’s WRNR vet, Rich Fisher.
Jimi Haha is the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for the band Jimmie’s Chicken Shack who has released 10 records in 33 years and toured the U.S. and Europe. J.C.S. had 2 top 10 hits in 2 different radio formats for their 2 worldwide major label releases. Jimi also plays in the local bands Jarflys and Mend The Hollow…. and is truly one of Annapolis’ favorite sons.
Mark Bryan is a musician, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of Hootie & the Blowfish. He co-wrote hits like "Hold My Hand," "Only Wanna Be with You," and "Let Her Cry". Beyond Hootie, Bryan has released solo albums and operates a production studio in Charleston, SC. Bryan adds “what an amazing opportunity to put my broadcast journalism degree back to work at the best sounding station in my home state.”
Rich Fisher has been on the radio longer than he probably wants to admit—and somehow, he always ends up back at WRNR. He’s done just about every shift on RNR over the years and has also been heard on stations all across the region. Fisher adds “I ain’t dead yet!”.
WRNR is locally owned and operated by Cortona Media LLC, with managing partners Kirk Litton and Jay Stevens. Litton added “C’mon… when a couple of Maryland’s own musical legends Mark Bryan and Jimi Haha each say ‘hey, I’d like to do a show on WRNR’, you respond ‘Yes!’ as quickly as possible. And having Rich back is a huge plus. We may be questionably operated, but we see can’t miss opportunities when they knock.” Stevens added "We're thrilled to add another layer of excitement with Mark, Jimi and Rich. There's a rich heritage of personality with this station and we don't want to disappoint."
WRNR can be heard locally on 93.5fm or via WRNR App in App Store or Google Play. You can contact them at 410-263-3000, Jay.Stevens@WRNR.com, and Kirk.Litton@WRNR.com
