Cambridge, MD - Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park will be hosing a book launch & signing event for A Guide to Harriet Tubman's Eastern Shore: The Old Home is Not There by Phil Hesser and Charlie Ewers on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 2-4 p.m. at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park Multi-purpose Room.
When she crosses the line into freedom, Harriet Tubman recalls, "I was a stranger in a strange land; my home.., was in Maryland." But where was her Dorchester home and how would it help her to find a new home? Phil Hesser and Charlie Ewers will talk about their search through landscapes and memory for Harriet Tubman's home in Dorchester and how it testifies to our own search for home in the changing lands and common ground in the turbulent world of the 21st century.
A Guide to Harriet Tubman's Eastern Shore: The Old Home is Not There will be available for purchase in the park book store. Phil Hesser and Charlie Ewers will be available to answer questions and sign their book that day.
