Worth the Drive
The National Harbor, which opened in early 2008 along the Potomac River, has become a booming metropolis and a hot-spot destination with more attractions on the way. The Capital Wheel, a 175-foot Ferris wheel provides a spectacular birds-eye view of D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The wheel features 42 climate-controlled gondolas with room to seat eight. Along with the Capital Wheel, the National Harbor is hosting a plethora of special events highlighted by the Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival (June 19th, 6-10 p.m. and June 20th, 12-6 p.m.), Walk of Hope (June 6th, 8-11 a.m.), and the Chesapeake Crab & Beer Festival (August 22nd, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-9 p.m.), among others.Other Destination Events
