Celebration Schedule, Road, Maritime, and City Office Closures
Annapolis, MD - City of Annapolis Mayor Jared Littmann invites all residents to the celebration of 250 Years of Independence with a July 4th parade and fireworks on Saturday, July 4, 2026. For a full list of Annapolis 250 events, visit the City WEBSITE.
“It’s an honor to be presiding over the City of Annapolis as we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday,” said Mayor Littmann. “The City has some incredible festivities planned, and I look forward to celebrating with my fellow Annapolitans.”
PARADE: The Independence Day parade will step off at 6:30 p.m. at Amos Garrett Boulevard and proceed along West Street, around Church Circle to Northwest Street to Calvert Street where the parade will conclude.
FIREWORKS: The fireworks display over Spa Creek will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m.

CITY OFFICE CLOSURES
- City of Annapolis offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 in celebration of Independence Day.
- The Roger “Pip” Moyer Recreation Center and the Stanton Center will be closed on Friday, July 3. The Kenneth R. Dunn Municipal Pool at Truxtun Park will be open with reduced hours on Saturday (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
- Refuse and recycling: No change to the schedule.
- Annapolis Transit will only operate shuttle bus service to and from Navy Stadium and College Avenue (at Bladen) from 4:30 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, July 4. There is no regular Annapolis Transit service on Independence Day.
PARKING: Parking is available at Hillman, Knighton, Gott’s, and Park Place garages. The free downtown “Magenta” services all City garages and takes visitors to downtown (and back). The downtown shuttle will run from 8 a.m. to midnight on July 4, 2026. On Saturday, July 4, the City Department of Transporation will have a cooling bus parked at Market Space from 4:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Please note that local garages may fill up early. Therefore, the City will also provide free shuttle service from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (Gate 5) to Lawyers Mall from approximately 4:30 p.m. to midnight. Parking at Navy Stadium will be $15 per vehicle (no cash, credit card only) on Saturday, July 4, 2026.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS, ROAD CLOSURES, AND TRAFFIC PATTERN SHIFTS:
Eastport Parking Restrictions: Beginning at 4 p.m. and extending until about 10:30 p.m., parking will be prohibited, and violators may be towed from the following areas:
- Main Street
- Randall Street
- Market Space
- In Eastport: Both sides of Severn Avenue between First and Sixth Streets
- In Eastport: Both sides of Chesapeake Avenue between Fifth and Sixth Streets and the Inbound side of Chesapeake Ave between First and Fifth Street.
Downtown Parking Restrictions: Prince George Street will be posted “Resident Only Parking” from Craig Street to Maryland Avenue from 2 p.m. to midnight. East Street will be posted as “Resident Only Parking” from Prince George Street to King George Street from 2 p.m. to midnight. Randall Street will be posted “Resident Only Parking” from Prince George Street to King George Street from 2 p.m. to midnight.
Downtown Road Closures: Main Street and the Spa Creek Bridge (from Eastport to downtown) will be closed to traffic around 5 p.m. and remain closed until the conclusion of the fireworks, at approximately 10 p.m. Road blocks will also be set up in the following locations:
- Church Circle and Main Street
- Duke of Gloucester Street at Conduit Street, at Green Street, at St. Mary’s Street and at Compromise Street
- Spa Creek Bridge from the Eastport side will close at approximately 5 p.m.; Spa Creek Bridge from the Duke of Gloucester side will close at approximately 8 p.m. The bridge will reopen following the conclusion of the fireworks display when pedestrians have cleared the area.
Downtown Temporary Traffic Pattern: Traffic will be allowed to flow down Duke of Gloucester Street from Church Circle and into Eastport via one lane (not into downtown Annapolis) until 9 p.m. At that time, the Spa Creek Bridge will be closed and Duke of Gloucester Street will be closed to ensure pedestrian safety and facilitate the movement of foot traffic leaving the area after the fireworks display.
Eastport Temporary Traffic Pattern: At the conclusion of the Fireworks display, Annapolis Police will implement a temporary traffic pattern to facilitate egress out of the City. Traffic signals in Eastport will flash yellow - please be alert and follow Annapolis Police direction.
- Departing from Chesapeake Avenue: Follow Chesapeake to Bay Ridge Avenue out toward Forest Drive. NOTE: Traffic will not be allowed to turn right onto Tyler/Hilltop. Drivers will need to continue towards Forest Drive. Pro Tip: You can use Forest Hills Ave as an alternate exit route to get to Forest Drive.
- Departing from Severn Avenue: You will be rerouted! Turn left onto 6th St, turn right onto Bay Ridge Ave, you will be directed to take a right on Jefferson St, then a left on Brashears St, then a right onto Madison St, left on President St to head outbound to Tyler/Hilltop to get to Forest Drive.
BOATING RESTRICTIONS
The draw span of the Spa Creek Bridge will be closed to boat traffic from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Because of the anticipated crowded conditions, boaters are urged to select their preferred viewing area anchorage early and are also warned to avoid the 1,000-foot Safety Zone around the fireworks barge. Please note that the consumption of alcoholic beverages on streets and sidewalks in Annapolis is prohibited. It is also prohibited to use airborne fireworks without a license (legally obtainable ground-based items like poppers, snakes, and snap pops, and gold-labeled sparklers are allowed). Violations are subject to a fine not exceeding $250 per offense.
