Annapolis, MD - Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park recently sent out an update in their newsletter stating that the museum is almost ready to be fully re-opened after historic flooding throughout the Annapolis region on Friday, October 29, 2021:
"Thanks to all of our dedicated volunteers, staff, board members, and a team of cleaning professionals, the museum is dried-out and almost ready to be fully opened. We still have some technical issues to work out with our exhibits but expect to reopen any day now. Stay tuned! "
Donation funds are being accepted through The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park website, which states the following about the damage caused by flooding:
"The region’s widespread flooding devastated the Annapolis Maritime Museum on Friday, October 29, 2021. The worst flooding in two decades!
Just this past year we re-opened the Museum after a year of closure due to COVID-19, with a beautiful new exhibit. Luckily, our brand-new exhibit was designed to withstand wet conditions, an intentional design with our history of flooding. With great appreciation for our volunteers, staff, and board members, we were able to move those exhibits to higher ground.
Despite all of our great efforts, Mother Nature’s wrath prevailed, leaving a wake of destruction behind. Offices, piers, and other non-moveable items were damaged and must be repaired. We hope that we can count on your financial support to get our operations running at full speed for all to enjoy and learn about Annapolis’ maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay.
Thank you in advance for your support."
