The Annapolis Youth Chorus ushers in the season with a family friendly holiday concert at St. Anne's Church in Annapolis on Sunday, December 11, at 3 p.m. Under the direction of Jill Woodward, The Annapolis Youth Chorus (AYC), part of the Live Arts Maryland organization, includes young voices from private and public schools throughout Anne Arundel County. For this year’s holiday program, the treble-voiced choir will perform a concert that showcases some very angelic voices and includes a variety of traditional holiday carols as well as much-loved choral works. The group is accompanied by Carolene Winter. The Annapolis Chorale's a cappella women's group also makes a special appearance.
Children may attend the AYC holiday concert free. Tickets for adults are $15 and will be available at the door the afternoon of the concert. For more information, call 410-263-1906.
Now in its eleventh season, the Annapolis Youth Chorus is directed by Jill J. Woodward, who teaches music at Indian Creek School. The AYC helps children develop a life-long love of music, while teaching the fundamentals of vocal performance and strong musicianship. The AYC presents two concerts each season, in December and May. In addition, as a division of Live Arts Maryland, directed by J. Ernest Green and home of the Annapolis Chorale, AYC singers perform regularly with the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra and the Chorale. The group has sung for many audiences, from the home crowd at a Bowie Baysox game to Carnegie Hall and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
