Annapolis, MD- Anne Arundel County Public Library (AACPL) officials announced today, in partnership with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the launch of its Maryland State Park pass program. Library customers can now check out a pass to visit any Maryland State Park for up to seven days. The pass includes free daytime general admission for one vehicle with up to 10 people and unlimited boat launching at state park facilities. Borrowers will also enjoy a 10 percent discount on select state-operated concessions and boat rentals. The Anne Arundel County Public Library Foundation and community donors funded the initiative.
“Curiosity, one of AACPL’s core values, leads to exploration. The Maryland State Park pass program gives our customers the opportunity and freedom to explore more of our great state,” said AACPL CEO Skip Auld. “As someone who enjoys being outdoors, it is a joy to know that our library system is providing access to experiences that benefit well-being and help build a stronger community.”
Each AACPL location has two Maryland State Park passes and accompanying gate pass cards for automatic toll gates available for lending. Customers can place a hold through the library catalog to check out a pass and return it to any branch at the end of their seven-day lending period. Passes are not valid for special events and do not override park capacity limitations or reservation requirements. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, reservations are required at Sandy Point State Park, Greenbrier State Park, North Point State Park, Point Lookout State Park and Newtowne Neck State Park. Library cardholders should make these reservations directly through the Maryland State Park website.
