Annapolitans flooded Boatyard Bar & Grill to watch the America’s Cup this past summer.
London, England: The crew at Wight Vodka is proud to announce that the Boatyard Bar & Grill in Annapolis has been voted 3rd Place as the World’s Favorite Yachting Bar. While overall honors for the worldwide favorite bar went to One Bar Playa Blanca in Lanzarote, Spain, the honor bestowed to Boatyard is equally remarkable as it is the favorite yachting bar in the entire United States, besting several state-side finalists in the worldwide top 10!br
Together with Scuttlebutt Europe, and now in its fifth year, Wight Vodka ran one of the most important contests the world over, asking its yachting fraternity to vote for their favorite.
This year’s contest was again extremely tight between the winning bar and the runners up, which, rounding out the top 10, included the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, Boatyard in Annapolis, the Bitter End Yacht Club in the BVI, the Oar on Block Island, The King & Queen in Hamble, GB, the Yacht Club Micalvi in Chili, Maddie’s Sail Loft in Marblehead, Mass, Schooner Wharf in Key West, and Pier 23 in San Francisco.
“It’s always nice to be recognized and supported by our loyal customers locally and around the world,” said Dick Franyo, owner of the Boatyard Bar & Grill. “This certainly speaks to Annapolis’ position globally in the yachting/sailing world.”
Dan Hiza, co-owner of 50° North, the company behind Wight Vodka, said “This contest is by far one of my favorites to run, and the number of votes this year was incredible. The team at One Bar will receive a trophy and bottle of Wight to cele ate their win, as well as a few Wight Vodka regatta caps to show off. Many congratulations and let the party begin!”
