Arnold, MD – The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Broadneck Lodge #2608, proudly supported the local community this holiday season with $11,000 in charitable donations to My Brother’s Pantry and GenVets, Inc., helping to address food insecurity and support veterans and their families. These contributions, made possible through grants from the Elks National Foundation, reflect the Lodge’s commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents.
$5,000 Donation to My Brother’s Pantry
On November 23, 2024, the Broadneck Elks Lodge donated $5,000 to My Brother’s Pantry, a consortium of religious organizations serving needy families on the Broadneck Peninsula. This donation enabled the Pantry to expand its outreach, providing food to local residents struggling with food insecurity. My Brother’s Pantry has long been a pillar of the community, and the Broadneck Elks Lodge is proud to partner with them in their mission.
$6,000 Donation to GenVets, Inc.
Also on November 23, 2024, the Lodge contributed $6,000 to GenVets, Inc., which supports local veterans and military families through targeted initiatives. GenVets plans to use the funds for:
- Catering for an annual Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) Christmas party for retired officers and their families.
- Distribution of 50 backpacks filled with basic necessities to homeless veterans on Christmas Eve through a collaboration of Linda’s Legacy and students at the School of the Incarnation in Gambrills.
- Veteran holiday events at local retirement homes and Hospices, including deliveries of poinsettias, desserts, and cards, with the help of local high school volunteers.
- A December gathering of Annapolis Blue Star Families, providing holiday surprises for military spouses and their children.
“These donations reflect the Elks’ core mission of charity and community service,” said Ryan Bauer, President of Broadneck Lodge #2608. “We are honored to give back to the community, supporting families in need and expressing our gratitude to those who have served our country.”
