And, man is it a lot of work!
r
On Sunday, I headed over to the Crofton Country Club to join the rest the What's Up? crew at the What's Up? Weddings Fall Bridal Showcase.
r
The weather was gorgeous. A bit on the chilly side, but, fall is my absolute favorite time of year, so I thought it was perfect. And the Country Club itself was beautiful. We noted in our staff meeting this morning that was saw a lot of ides and moms scoping it out as they left.
r
By the time I got there, it seemed that the big idal rush to get in had ended. I was working a shift with What's Up? Graphic Designer Olga Stine, and with few guests to check in, we had plenty of time to poke around inside.
r
It was packed! Vendors lined the walls—each showing off the best of their products. I ate by the forkful nibbled away at some of the Country Club's crab dip (deelish), and stuffed into my mouth in one bite daintily helped myself to a cupcake by Kirsten's Cakery. Chocolate with chocolate icing. It was awesome. Whoever I marry may have to contend with a double chocolate cake.
r
Plus, I have a complimentary cake pop from Annapolis Wedding Chapel sitting on my counter at home that I can't wait to try. I was stuffed by the time I got it, but I already have it penciled in for dessert. I can just hear it calling my name right now.
r
I had no idea that planning a wedding involved so many people. I mean, I knew that you had to get a dress, and find a venue and some caterers, but after that I thought it was pretty much over.
r
Nope! Now I know that in order for a modern wedding to go off, you need hair and makeup artists, photographers, stationary, a band, florists, party favors, cake, and (this one took me completely by surprise) even a car to get you to your venue. It's enough to make your head spin!
r
I'd never really given much thought to attending a idal expo before volunteering for Sunday's. But now, I can definitely see the appeal. Not only does it give you an idea of what people are doing stylistically, it gives you the chance to meet with a bunch of people who you're going have to get to know—all in one place. Convenient? I think so.
r
If you missed our Fall Bridal Showcase, stay tuned. We're having another one in the spring. In the meantime, be sure to pick up a copy of What's Up? Weddings on newsstands now.
