ST. MICHAELS, MD – During Teacher Appreciation Week, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is excited to invite educators from across the Eastern Shore and beyond to join us for a free day of fun at our upcoming Chesapeake Celebrations.
All PK-12 teachers, administrators, and support staff—along with their immediate families—are invited to join us on our waterfront campus during four themed celebration days as a thank you for the incredible impact they make in the lives of students in our community every day.
The first of these Chesapeake Celebrations showcasing our mission in action is Savor the Shore Saturday, May 16. The series continues with Play on the Bay (Saturday, June 27), Stories from the Shoreline (Saturday, July 18), and Love the Bay (Saturday, Aug. 15).
This Your Museum, Your Community recognition initiative is open to all PK-12 public, private, and charter school personnel, including teachers, paraprofessionals, school and district administrators, and support staff providing maintenance, transportation, security, clerical, food and other services within schools.
Education professionals can reserve their free tickets now online using the links below. You will be asked to provide your school/district info during checkout to verify eligibility. The offer can also be claimed in-person at the door during the Chesapeake Celebrations.
New for 2026, CBMM’s Chesapeake Celebrations bring the Bay to life, inviting guests of all ages to discover our region’s vibrant history, environment, and culture through hands-on activities, engaging presentations, and on-the-water experiences with staff, volunteers, and community partners. They are included with general admission and free for CBMM members.
At our Savor the Shore celebration, you’ll discover the foods on your plate that tell the Chesapeake story. The festivities include hands-on activities with our staff and volunteers, catch-and-release fishing from our docks, gardening demos, the Turtle Island food truck and presentations on indigenous food traditions of the Lenni Lenape and Nause-Waiwash tribes, talks with scholars from UMCES Horn Point Laboratory, storytime with the Talbot County Free Library, birthday cake in honor of our upcoming 61st birthday, and more.
