Annapolis MD - The Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce today announced a leadership transition, marking the departure of President & CEO Mark Kleinschmidt after seven years of dedicated service, and the promotion of Amy Berry to President & CEO.
During his tenure, Kleinschmidt led one of Maryland’s largest chambers through a period of significant growth and unprecedented challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. His steady leadership, commitment to advocacy, and focus on supporting the business community helped guide the Chamber through uncertainty while continuing to deliver value to its large membership base.
Kleinschmidt said, “Anne Arundel County is an extraordinary place to live and to build a business. Our business community is not only driven but it is innovative and deeply committed to making the county stronger for everyone. As I transition into a new role, I’m grateful for the opportunity to have served this remarkable community. The Chamber is well‑positioned for continued success, as Amy’ steps into the President & CEO role.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Mark for his seven years of service and leadership,” said Steven A. Brown, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and a partner with McAllister, DeTar, Showalter & Walker LLC. “Mark guided the Chamber through one of the most challenging periods our business community has ever faced, while keeping our mission front and center. His impact on this organization and on Anne Arundel County will be felt for years to come, and we wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.”
Succeeding Kleinschmidt is Amy Berry, who has been promoted to President & CEO, bringing more than 15 years of chamber experience and a deep personal connection to the Anne Arundel County community. Berry joined the Chamber in November 2019, where she oversaw Membership and Marketing initiatives and played a key role in strengthening engagement, partnerships, and organizational growth. Berry is also a 2025 graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel.
Prior to joining the Anne Arundel County Chamber, Berry spent a decade in the Dallas region serving in multiple chamber leadership roles, including Events Coordinator, Membership & Marketing Director, and President. Her promotion also marks an important milestone for the organization, as the Chamber proudly celebrates strong female leadership at the helm.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the incredible support of our Board and members,” said Berry. “It is truly an honor to serve the community that helped shape who I am—both professionally and personally. I look forward to building on our momentum, strengthening our partnerships, and ensuring our members have the advocacy, resources, and support they need to succeed.”
The Board of Directors expressed confidence in Berry’s leadership and vision, noting her proven experience, passion for the Chamber’s mission, and commitment to advancing the region’s business community. Amy Berry will assume the President & CEO role effective February 2, and Kleinschmidt will continue through February 27th to ensure a smooth transition.
The Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce looks ahead to this next chapter with appreciation for its past leadership and excitement for the future under Berry’s direction.
