Annapolis, MD – The Anne Arundel County Department of Health is alerting residents of increasing COVID-19 community levels. On Thursday evening, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention changed the status in Anne Arundel County from medium to high.
The new data shows there are 35 cases per 100,000 people per day in the region over the last seven days. In the region, there are 11.8 hospitalizations per 100,000 people per week.
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends everyone wear a mask while in public indoor settings and on public transportation when we are at a high community level,” Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman said. “This is a holiday weekend and the weather is supposed to be beautiful, so it’s a great opportunity to spend time outdoors.”
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health recommends people stay up to date on their vaccines, test if they have symptoms or have been exposed, and seek treatment if they’re positive and at higher risk.
The Anne Arundel County Department of Health offers free masks and test kits at health department sites and libraries across the county.
