Since January, Easton has been invigorated by Good Dogs Grill, a charitable restaurant that allows customers to give back to their community every time they purchase one of more than 20 eccentrically delicious hot dogs. Good Dogs Grill is unique from other restaurants in that, after paying operating costs, all proceeds are distributed to the chosen charity for that month. The Maryland native owners, Scott and Pam Harris, believe in the success of the crowd funding model—the idea that the combined, small contributions of many can make a greater difference than one individual alone. And the universally scrumptious powers of a hot dog don't hurt business either.
Good Dogs Grill aims to stay local and support many different but equally great charities in Talbot County. Charities that have already benefited include Easton Care Packs, Talbot Humane, Talbot Community Connection, Inc., and the Talbot County Free Li ary.
The focus on giving back is not the only distinct feature of this endearingly self-proclaimed “dive,” located in a building more than 60 years old. With each hot dog boasting a fun name and creative toppings, including fresh, local ingredients from nearby farms, and other tasty menu options such as veggie dogs, salads, burgers, and ice cream, there's something here for everyone.
A couple of particularly unique dogs include the Sour Laura (topped with mustard, grilled onions, and sauerkraut; a crowd pleaser at the grille), the Memphis Slim (topped with peanut butter, banana, and bacon), and the Pali Lookout (topped with fresh pineapple, jalapeno, pulled pork, and cream cheese).
