Annapolis, MD - The Eastport Yacht Club (EYC) kicked off the holiday season celebrating creativity and community at the Artists’ Reception last week at Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating’s (CRAB) beautiful new waterfront facility. Evening highlights included the announcement of this year’s Art Contest winner and the unveiling of the Lights Parade event poster that will soon be seen all over town.
The sold-out crowd enjoyed meeting many of this year’s contest artists and seeing their work in person. Party guests voted for the Fan Favorite and had the opportunity to purchase the entries.
Congratulations to this year’s grand prize winner, Eva Barsin for ‘Holiday Reflection in Quiet Motion’ and this year’s Fan Favorite, Mary LaCasse for her piece, ‘Knot your Average Parade’. Eva remarked, “My husband, Joe and I have loved the Lights Parade for many years. I am thrilled to share my art for this beloved community event and good cause.”
The EYC Lights Parade will illuminate the waters of Annapolis on Saturday, December 13, showcasing a spectacular fleet of decorated boats. Boat owners are invited to join the festivities—entries are still open at EYCLightsParade.org/Skippers/
Proceeds from the Lights Parade benefit the EYC Foundation, which provides marine and maritime scholarships, hosts a career expo, and delivers STEM on the Water programs to local youth—helping inspire the next generation of maritime professionals.
EYC Lights Parade was pleased to partner with in-kind sponsor, CRAB, an organization that has been providing meaningful recreational boating experiences for people with disabilities for more than 30 years. Their commitment to accessibility and inclusion reflects the spirit of the Lights Parade and the broader Annapolis boating community.
