Cost of Holiday Travel & Leisure
Last week, Maryland’s gas tax officially increased from 36 cents per gallon to 43 cents per gallon—an automatic increase mandated in a 2013 bill. This comes on the heels of soaring inflation and the end of the “gas tax holiday,” which offered some reprieve at the pump before expiring in April. Maryland’s leadership—including the Governor and Comptroller—has called on the State Assembly to issue another gas tax holiday.
With the Fourth of July holiday weekend upon us, we’d like to ask you if the fuel cost for travel and leisure, like boating, has changed your holiday plans or not. And what you think should be done locally and nationally to curb the rising cost of gas and other fuels.
What do you think about the price at the pump, holiday travel/leisure, and what should be done to help consumers?
Here’s what you said:
To the extent the higher cost of gas is a result of the Ukraine attack by Russia, it's something to be borne. It may impact our use of car and boat but minimally.
